Slate: Stream To Save Your Favorite Shows

Slate's Big Money laid out simple plans to save your favorite show: stream them online. This may seem counter intuitive to some but if you do some research into the Nielson ratings, I bet you'd agree.

It's a great story so give it a read.

Time Warner Drops Download Cap Plan

As I posted the other day, Time Warner, among other cable companies, are looking into the idea of charging people based on bandwidth usage. As I pointed out, this would be like sending us back to the 90's when AOL ruled the net with it's hourly fees. Earlier today MSNBC featured a story about the corporations floating these ideas and they even made mention of the fact that if public outcry were loud enough, they'd drop the idea.

Well, 6 hours later and MSNBC just posted an AP piece about Time Warner dropping their plan. Read about it at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30252543/.

Congressman Wants to Ban Download Caps

Read here.

Hopefully this bill will pass and let cable providers know we, the consumers, are not willing to go back in time. Is it just me or does this remind anyone else of when we had to rush around on the internet due to paying AOL per hour for access?

I find it pretty hard to believe cable networks would be very happy with this new arrangement. NBC's Hulu would be killed off, ESPN makes their Disney parents ridiculous amounts of money via videos. And what about the non-networks - major sports organizations would lose millions with all the effort they've been putting into live streaming sports.

Now be truthful, would you really watch all those Two Girls One Cup reaction videos if you had to pay for Youtube downloads?
